"The type of rabies virus on the Continent is fox rabies virus, which is a different genotype from dog rabies virus. It is specific to its primary host, the fox. What this means is that the victims of a bite from a rabid fox can only pass the disease to another fox. In other words, if a fox bites a dog and gives it rabies, that dog cannot infect another dog or a cat or a human. There is no documented evidence of dog-to-dog or cat-to-cat transmission of fox rabies. "

heißt soviel wie - ein Hund kann Fuchstollwut bekommen, aber kein anderes Tier/Mensch damit anstecken. Es gibt spezies-spezifische Formen von Tollwut - Tollwut ist nicht gleich Tollwut.
die urbane tollwut (hundetollwut) gibt es seit 30 jahren in deutschland NICHT mehr. (quelle - uni giessen)
