I do wonder- why you are looking for such different dogs - Golden Retriever /Alaskan Malamute- AND neither of them have short hair ???!!!!!
These two different breeds have totally different interests. The Golden Retriever is a gundog/hunting dog -and his brain should be used by training him.
Why was it so important to have a dog with short hair - I have a Golden Retriever and she has long hair !! As usually Golden Retrievers have. A Labrador has short hair- but sheds through the year.
Please proof if these two different breeds are really what you are looking for.
Check several breeders before you buy a dog- and I wouldn´t suggest to buy from newspaper.
